Holiday Events in Denver

Denver is aglow in the Holidays. The malls are bustling with shoppers and people are out on the town for special occasions and holiday parties. There are plenty of Holiday events taking place in and around the city and your Denver CPA has put together out list of favorites so you can get out and enjoy the season. In fact, some of these could become family traditions!

The Performing Arts

If you are seeking out the performing arts during the holiday season, just park yourself at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. This year, their line-up of shows include the Colorado Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker. If you have never seen a performance of this holiday classic, Colorado Ballet’s rendition of it is considered among the best in the United States, as well as the world. Also showing at the performing arts complex will be the Broadway musical version of A Christmas Story which depicts lovable Ralphie and all the antics of the classic 1983 movie. If you are seeking out a classic tale full of ghosts, Denver’s long running A Christmas Carol will be at the intimate Stage Theater. Lastly, if you seek the cure for the common Christmas show, The Santaland Diaries might be up you alley as it is David Sedaris’ off-beat tales from his stint as a Macy’s elf in New York City.

Denver Botanic Gardens

When it comes to light displays, the Blossom of Lights display at the Denver Botanic Gardens is a must. The display runs through January 2nd and has become a family-friendly tradition for many in the Metro Area. This year, there are new elements, including the return of the illuminated O’Fallon Perennial Walk and the Romantic Gardens. With thousands of lights and warm drinks and treats available, this is a great event that is not be missed during the Holiday season.

Georgetown Christmas Market

Over the weekends of December 5th and December 12th, the mountain town of Georgetown is transformed into a Victorian Christmas. This is an idealic setting for returning to Christmases of yesteryear.

City and Count Building Lights

The lights and synchronized music at the City and County Building in Denver are incredible. If you have lived in Denver and never seen this display in person, do yourself a favor and make it a point to swing over there any evening between November 27th and December 31st to take this in. If you are having dinner downtown, you can take the 16th Street Mall Ride to the end of its route and it is just a short stroll the building.
