Denver CPA: Organize Your Spring Cleaning

Spring is in full swing in Colorado. We were lucky enough to see temperatures in the 70s in early March, and the beautiful weather has continued in April. While many people focus on Spring Break, and other family vacations during this time of year, we want to remind you that April is also the perfect time to get a start on your spring cleaning.

Hopefully we didn’t remind you of your many chores on your to do list. Your Denver CPA Firm just wants to suggest that spending some time cleaning will help you get organized for the rest of the year. Besides, getting organized helps enhance the feelings of spring. Here are a few tips we use to keep our homes (and offices) in tip-top shape:

Create a schedule. Contrary to popular belief, spring cleaning does not have to be done all in one day or over a weekend. Spread it out over a week or two. List each room in your house and spend an hour or a couple of hours in each room. You’ll probably spend more time in your office than in your guest bedroom.

Declutter, Organize. Declutter, Organize, Declutter Organize. Only keep the stuff that you really love! Is it worth it to keep notes from 2012? Remember, clutter is an obstacle to reaching a relaxed and calm state. We’re focused on helping you organize your life, and getting rid of things that you don’t absolutely need is one way to help your organize.

After the declutter. If you have items that you don’t use, but are in good condition, sell them or better yet, donate those items to charity.

Have fun with spring cleaning. Think of it as a “feel good” exercise. You’ll feel good about a clean home/work space and you’ll be more organized to finish out the rest of the year.
